Working on the desalinator. Today I was finally able to fire it up although we are still in fresh water. The model we settled on is a Village Marine LWM300 modular since we wanted to get the production rate up there a bit, and the modular aspect allowed me to squeeze it into the bilge over the water heater.
So far so good, and the dissolved solids was around 1 ppm vs. 150 for the city water coming into the boat.
However with all of the missing solids, the water tastes off a bit. No salts at all makes it kind of bland.
I'm thinking that it will work fine as ice in a strawbery daquiri. Soon enough the boat comes out for inspection, some zincs and a new thru hull.
